Abstract

In the first quarter of 2010, Taiwanese desktop PC shipment volume saw evident year-on-year growth rate at nearly 30% to 31.2 million units. Strong shipment volume growth in the first quarter of 2010 was brought about by several factors. First, the industry's shipment performance in the first quarter of 2009 was negatively affected by the economic downturn, which led to relatively low base. Second, with the global economy recovering, global desktop PC shipment returned to the normal level in the first quarter of 2010. Third, many brand-name vendors have counted on AIO (All In One) products to improve profits and launched several AIO desktop PC models in the first quarter of 2010. As a result, AIO desktop PC products enjoyed higher growth in the first quarter of 2010 when compared to the same quarter of 2009.
